Revolving Door Arts Teen Chapbook Series
The garden at William Hill Gallery on Chicago's south side was incredible; green, red, and shades of gray stones that decorated the walking areas and separated the various plants. I'd never heard of the gallery until this event but now I'm glad that I did - talk about a dream location! I can't even express how gorgeous this venue was to photograph Revolving Door Arts Teen Chapbook Series - the backyard area was perfect for sitting on blankets and having a picnic while the young poets performed, and the small indoor gallery space at the back of the yard held gorgeous works by local artists. I've known Jen for years - she was one of my very first mentors that I had in the arts, and one of the most patient, caring, and enthusiastic people I've ever met.
I was so honored to be able to listen to these amazing young authors stories during the event, and to be able to photograph them was even better. Their hard work and efforts paid off in the beautiful scenery and joyous event to celebrate their achievements - and the love from their families and from Jen was palpable throughout the evening. It was such a successful launch of these young artists that their books sold out before they were even done performing, and Jen had to run and grab some more copies! Congrats to Jen, Revolving Door Arts, and all of the beautiful, talented teens that spoke at the event. I can't wait to see what you all do for the rest of your summers, and than you again for letting me photograph you! :)
